Imagine your entire life changing in the blink of an eye. After a gym visit, I felt faint, passed out, and soon found myself sitting across from a cardiac surgeon. I was diagnosed with aortic valve regurgitation, also known as aortic insufficiency, and needed open-heart surgery to replace my valve. Essentially, my aortic valve wasn't closing tightly, allowing blood to leak back into the left ventricle from the aorta during diastole. In simpler terms, the blood wasn't flowing properly through my body. In that moment, I was terrified and had no idea what "life after the knife" would look like, but as a believer, I trusted God.

On June 7, 2022, at just 41 years young, I underwent open-heart surgery. When I awakened after a successful 8-hour valve replacement, I felt different—and Heart Leadership was born.
